The decision to consider seeing a counsellor can often feel daunting, whether it is your first experience of counselling or not. You may be experiencing difficult thoughts and feelings that you find hard to share with others. Where you hold on to these feelings, they can become very intense.
Counselling gives you the opportunity to talk openly about your struggles without being judged. Expressing feelings for the first time can often bring clarity to a situation and be the first step towards understanding why you feel the way you do. This process often leads to deeper self-awareness and a realisation of learnt patterns of behaviour; some of which may no longer be helpful. The counselling process can support you to look at these patterns of behaviour and explore the choices you have. This can result in the decision to make positive changes and enhance the way you live your life.
